Russia sees TPP, TTIP as bearing threats to global trade

MOSCOW, Oct 14 (PRIME) -- Russia believes that initiatives to establish a Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and a Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) pose threats to the global trade system, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at a meeting with the State Duma, the parliament’s lower chamber, on Wednesday.

“We see it as a very undesirable tendency, even threatening, destructive from the point of view of bringing harm to the universal multilateral trade system,” he said.

The position of Moscow is based on the fact that the organizations are being established secretly and not transparently, according to Lavrov.
